Fungus Gnat Larvae
Following a trail by the four toilet stalls outside the warehouse, led to the glossy caterpillars (fungus gnat larvae) I’d seen on my first day of work, crawling over each other, flicking their bodies from side to side, advancing as one thing. They’d reached the wall and had two leaders, causing their body to split in opposing directions. Over the wall upon the dirt walls another three groups glistened in the sun. Seeing them made me scratch my head all over and want to take a bath in steaming hot water. I made several recordings of them to show others so they might also wish they’d never seen them.
Now it’s rain and more rain, its drops cast across the galvanised roof, a familiar and dismal song, maybe as it meant there was to be no playing outside.
